Recently, BULETIN TV9 news channel and Metro Ahad published articles on Malaysians' knowledge and proficiency in performing CPR and utilizing AED. Shockingly, despite the increasing number of shock deaths in Malaysia, the public's CPR and AED usage skills are considered weak.

Amydiamni Roslan, a safety and BLS trainer from Altica Sdn Bhd, highlighted that heart-related diseases are still the primary cause of death among Malaysians. In 2019, 18,515 people died due to heart-related diseases, and this number is on the rise. The National Health Department of Malaysia's statistics in 2022 revealed that "ischemic heart disease" is the second leading cause of death in Malaysia in 2021, accounting for 13.7% of all deaths, just behind Covid-19.

Master CPR and restart the heart "Rhythm."

Amydiamni believes: "Cardiac arrest can happen to anyone at any time. If there is still no oxygen supply to the brain within the first 3-10 minutes, it will lead to "brain death."

However, Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) can artificially restart the heart's rhythm, significantly increasing the chances of rescuing the victim. Certainly, It is crucial to perform CPR correctly during resuscitation, as improper execution will not help improve the victim's survival rate.

When providing basic life support, there are specific international guidelines that need to be followed. First, chest compressions must be performed at a rate of 30 times per minute. The compression frequency should be around 100-120 times per minute, with a compression depth of two inches. Additionally, mouth-to-mouth breathing assistance must be performed twice intermittently during the compression process. This process should be repeated without interruption until the medical team arrives. Following these guidelines can help ensure the best possible outcome for the cardiac arrest individual in need of rescue.

Promote AED and benefit people around the world.

Automated external defibrillators (AEDs) play a vital role in resuscitating people suffering from shock heart failure. According to Aydiamni, using an AED alongside CPR can increase the survival rate from 5% to 70%. "AEDs are becoming more affordable and accessible in the market, and should be placed in public places such as government offices, shopping malls, and leisure parks. They should also be made available to the public, similar to popular science fire extinguishers," he mentioned.

Last year, Amoul and the Datuk Council of Malacca State, Malaysia held a signing ceremony to formalize their cooperation around the promotion and popularization of AEDs. This agreement deepened their partnership and paved the way for further collaboration.

This year, the Kuala Lumpur Development Authority has taken a significant step towards improving public health and safety standards by installing 50 Amoul AEDs at Bandar Utama Kuala Lumpur (DBKL). This initiative aims to provide swift assistance in case of emergencies, thereby ensuring the well-being of the public. It is a commendable effort by the authorities to make our surroundings safer and more secure.

Amoul is dedicated to promoting the domestic substitution of AED. By utilizing its intelligence, innovation, and speed, the company helps national brands expand globally and offers comprehensive AED solutions to the world.
