The 2024 National Dragon Boat Grand Union and Nanning Dragon Boat Open were successfully held near the Yongjiang River Changyou Pavilion in Nanning. A total of 52 teams and over 1,000 athletes participated in the dragon boat event.
AED provided full escort
As this dragon boat event had a large impact, long duration, high traffic density in the competition waters, and large participation and spectator numbers, ensuring the safety of the event was of utmost importance. As the starting gun rang, the dragon boats raced swiftly across the river. Tong Hong, the director of the Nanning Sports Management and Training Center, noted that "Due to the recent rainy weather, the Yongjiang River current was rapid, adding significant difficulty to the competition and presenting an extra challenge for the dragon boat teams."
Amoul, as the AED emergency medical service provider for the event, proactively coordinated a comprehensive safety plan and emergency response, conducting drills. They collaborated with the on-water rescue personnel and boats, staying on standby. Medical treatment areas were set up, with AED equipment strategically positioned to provide protection for all participants. The mobile AED units were also adjusted as needed to ensure event safety and smooth completion.
Constant emergency rescue
"This year's water conditions were quite complex, even putting pressure on traditional powerhouses like the Guangxi Minzu University dragon boat team," shared a team member. Amoul closely monitored the changing water conditions and was fully prepared. During the competition, there were 4 urgent incidents of capsized boats, with many athletes falling into the water amidst the splashing waves.
The lightweight Amoul AED units rushed alongside the rescue team. Whenever there were cases of drowning and cardiac arrest, they immediately began CPR and AED defibrillation. The rescue team quickly arrived to ensure efficient aid, and fortunately all the fallen athletes were safely recovered.
Speed and passion
Simultaneously, the Weihai 100 Super Trail Running Race commenced, also showcasing speed and excitement, with 1,643 athletes from 8 countries and regions set to conquer the mountains and sea. Amoul provided full support for the safety assurance work throughout this trail running challenge, with multiple AED units on site to assist the rescue team.
The portable Amoul AED units established a solid safety barrier, safeguarding the runners as they dashed, and contributing to the successful conclusion of the event. Going forward, Amoul will persist in technological innovation and R&D, supporting the development of China's sports industry and the implementation of the "Healthy China" strategy.
